Former Arsenal star Lauren has said that Mesut Ozil has remained irrelevant when it comes to the big games for the Gunners and he needs to showcase an improvement over the same next season. The former Germany international had a difficult season with Unai Emery at the helm last term and he concluded the campaign with just six goals and three assists across all competitions.

Speaking to The Star, Lauren said that there are no chances of Ozil parting ways with the Gunners this summer but he needs to start fulfilling the potential. He added that the midfielder has not remained relevant when it comes to the crucial challenges and he needs to find a solution to the problem.

German attacker Mesut Ozil has clarified that he has no plans of leaving Arsenal during this summer’s transfer window. The 30-year-old has witnessed a difficult season with the Gunners where he has managed just six goals and three assists in all competitions and this has presented speculation that the club may sanction his sale this summer.

However, speaking to DAZN, the former Real Madrid man has clarified that there is no chance of him leaving the Gunners and he is committed for the remaining two years of his contract, he said: “I don’t think there’s a chance of that to be honest. I’ve got two more years here and what happens afterwards is not in my hands.

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has said that he is continuing the progress made by Arsene Wenger with the north London side. The Spanish tactician took over the reins from the French tactician during the summer of 2017 and he has since helped the club push for a top four spot with the opportunity of securing a trophy.

I am not saying that's a green light to go to the market but we have good players in the house also that may get further opportunities, like Eddie Nketiah for example. We need to see. We are in November, so it is a good time to start analysing what options we have in the market. We are not closing the door but it's still not the preferred one.”
