Danny Welbeck believes Arsenal will be winning trophies soon under Unai Emery

Arsenal forward Danny Welbeck believes the Gunners will soon start winning trophies under the guidance of Unai Emery. The north London club have gone through a mixed campaign under the Spanish tactician but they are still in contention for the top four competing for potential silverware in the form of the Europa League.

Speaking to Sport 360, Welbeck spoke positively about the impact of Emery and suggested that the club are going through a transitional period where they are getting to adapt to the manager’s philosophy, he said: “It’s been positive. It’s a transitional period for the club with the new manager coming in. He has his ideas and what he wants to instil within the team. It’s something that as players, staff, fans, the whole club, we all have tobehind his ideas.”

The former Manchester United graduate added that the club are heading the right direction and hopefully they can start winning trophies soon, he said:“But we’re heading in the right direction and to where Arsenal Football Club can be. If you’re winning games I’m sure come the end of it we’ll be as high up the table as possible and winning trophies soon. I think we’ve got to focus game by game and hopefully, at the end of it, we do have a trophy.”

Meanwhile, “Welbeck’s future with the Gunners remains uncertain beyond the current campaign“, considering his existing deal expires in five months’ time. Nonetheless, Emery has previously spoken about the attacker’s positive influence during the opening stages of the campaign and it will be interesting to see whether the board are prepared to reward him with a contract renewal once he returns from “the serious knee injury.“

Arsenal are currently just outside of the top four positions in the Premier league with a one-point deficit to Manchester United. However, their immediate focus will be on the Europa league round of 32 second leg against BATE Borisov when they have to overturn a one nil deficit from the reverse fixture at the Borisov Arena.
