BBC Sport reporter drops update on Aaron Ramsey’s future

BBC Sport reporter David Ornstein has suggested that Liverpool could enter the race to sign Aaron Ramsey with the Welshman said to favour the potential transfer. The Wales international has just six months remaining on his existing deal at Arsenal and they are indications that he will leave on a free transfer when the current season comes to a close.

Writing on BBC Sport, Ornstein revealed that Ramsey is certain to leave the Gunners on a Bosman after the club rescinded the contract offer on the table. He added that the Welshman fancies a potential switch to Anfield in the summer, although the possibilities are high that he would pursue a fresh challenge abroad.

He penned: “There have been enquiries from English sides and if Ramsey was to remain in the Premier League he would favour a move to Liverpool. However, although there is still a possibility the situation might change, it is almost certain the former Cardiff player will go abroad. Once Ramsey's choice is made, he is expected to sign a pre-contract agreement and undergo a medical this month.”

“Ramsey has been relatively quiet regarding his future over the past few months“ but reports have clearly indicated that he is considering a pre-contract agreement with Juventus leading the race. To the extent, there have been claims that the Welshman has already finalised a pre-contract with the Bianconeri and “the forthcoming weeks should“ give a clear indication regarding his future.

Ramsey has been in-and-out of the Gunners starting lineup during the ongoing campaign but he has nonetheless impressed with two goals and six assists in the Premier League alone. The Welshman has previously highlighted that he would like to end the season on a high, thereby ruling out the prospect of a mid-season departure from the north London club.
