WELBECK MISSING AGAINST FORMER CLUB ARSENAL

Brighton and Hove Albion striker Danny Welbeck would have loved to play against Arsenal when the two teams met at the Amex Stadium on Tuesday night. The Seagulls played hosts to Arsenal in a week 16 league clash earlier this week without new signing Danny Welbeck. The England international was an unused substitute during the game which ended in a 1-0 victory for the Gunners. Alexandre Lacazette turned out to be the matchwinnerfor the North Londoners shortly after coming off the substitute bench.

Danny Welbeck played for Arsenal until last summer and he was in the Brighton team that played out a 1-1 draw at West Ham Unitedon Sunday evening in their last Premier League match before the Arsenal game. Danny Welbeck and his injury record would have been under consideration before the Arsenal game which was around 48 hours after the weekend's match with the Hammers. Brighton boss Graham Potter made several changes to his starting line-up but it didn't change much as Brighton were unable to end their winless run at home.

The Seagulls have not won a league game at the Amex Stadium this season and that run was extended at the end of the Arsenal match. Brighton have won two league games this season and they have been on the road against Newcastle United and Aston Villa.
Arsenal signed Danny Welbeck from Manchester United six years ago and he was at the club for the entire duration of the five-year deal that he signed when he became their player in 2014. He was not offered a new deal and that led to his exit on a free transfer. Danny Welbeck signed for Watford as a free agent but he was not able to prevent the Hornets from suffering demotion to the English Championship from the top flight.
