WELBECK HAPPY

Danny Welbeck has said that he is very happy with the way things went for England in their penultimate World Cup qualifying game against Montenegro which was played at the Wembley Stadium yesterday.

England won that game by a big margin of 4-1 and maintained its first position in the Group H points table. Now, the Three Lions are just one victory away from securing their place in the finals. They will take on Poland at the same venue on Tuesday.

The English team wasn’t that fluent in the first half of the game against Montenegro. They couldn’t strike even once in the first 45 minutes and at the half time break, the score was 0-0. But, in the second half, the hosts came all guns blazing and put the opposing team under pressure by playing some quality football.

Talking to the reporters at the end of the game, Welbeck said, “We didn’t have a fruitful first half, but, we remained patient and kept doing the basics right.”

“In the second half, we got the lead pretty early and that eased the pressure.”

“It was an important game and we were determined to secure 3 points from it. I am glad that we managed to do that.”

“Things went fantastically well tonight, but, we have one more game to go on Tuesday. We need to ensure that we play even better that day.”

When asked about Andros Townsend who found the net in his very first match for England at the senior level, Welbeck said, “He couldn’t have hoped for a better debut. He was absolutely fantastic today. His pace was good and the defenders were struggling to stop him.”
Townsend was declared player of the match for his fine all round performance.
