Pearson believes Watford can beat the Premier League drop this season

Of late, the Hornets have struggled with just one point acquired from three league games but Pearson feels that his side have a very good and realistic chance of staying in the top-flight next season, he told Premier League Productions: “I believe we can do it. I honestly think that. We’ve got a very good, realistic chance. We’ve got to be able to find a way of functioning as close to maximum as we can even when not at our maximum. It’s a difficult thing to do but that’s what we are trying to do.”

The Hornets recently jumped out of the relegation spots with a three-match winning streak but that joy lasted for a short while. A run of four winless matches has once again dropped them into the bottom three but they are still just one point adrift of safety. As such, the Hornets can turn their fortunes by building another winning run together but they have a tough looking phase before the beginning of March.

Pearson’s side are scheduled to face Manchester United and Liverpool in successive league matches this month and any point from those games would be regarded as a huge boost. Of course, Watford’s turnaround in December started with a surprise win over the Red Devils but prior to that, they gave Jurgen Klopp’s men a tough fight in a 2-0 defeat where they squandered a number of clear-cut chances to score in the opening half.
