Moyes outlines confidence in Danny Welbeck
New Manchester United manager David Moyes has revealed he has had a heart to heart talk with striker Danny Welbeck as he looks to build up the England international’s confidence in front of goal once again.
Welbeck scored just two goals for Sir Alex Ferguson’s side last season and he hasn’t looked completely sharp during the club’s pre-season tour of Asia and Australia as well. And Moyes had outlined this week that he had a chat with the player and assured him that he has confidence in him and will be backing him to get his goal scoring touch back.
He spoke to the media where he stated that when he arrived at the club, he was made aware how important Danny Welbeck has been and how important he will be in the future as well. He mentioned that he plans to give him opportunities and he will get games and hopefully, his goal scoring will flourish as well.
Welbeck got in front on goal on many occasions during the club’s tour matches and scored twice against the A-League All Stars as well and according to Moyes, it only takes a brilliant goal to inspire a player into a purple patch and Welbeck is that sort of a player who, when high on confidence, gets the team a lot of goals as he did in his first full season at the club.
Moyes also outlined that he made the player aware he has to work hard because sometimes, the harder someone works, luck seems to favor him and being a work horse already, Moyes is confident Danny Welbeck will get his goal scoring form back in no time.
Moyes stated that his work rate has never been doubted and he has made it clear the harder he works, the likelier it is he will score.
