Gianluca Di Marzio claims AC Milan are interested in re-signing Gerard Deulofeu

A report from Gianluca di Marzio has claimed that AC Milan are interested in re-signing Gerard Deulofeu this summer. The Spain international is expected to pursue a fresh challenge after Watford’s relegation from the Premier League and he has been touted to make the switch to the Rossoneri, where he had a loan stint in 2017.

Back then, Deulofeu impressed for the San Siro outfit with four goals and three assists from 18 appearances and his performances paved the way for his return to Barcelona from Everton in June 2017. Within six months, he made the comeback to the Premier League with Watford (initially on loan), but he is expected to leave the Hornets this summer after their relegation to the Championship.

According to Gianluca di Marzio, Deulofeu could make the return to the Rossoneri, who have already made contact with his representative. A report on the Italian’s website read: “Watford has been relegated from the Premier League and Gerard Deulofeu could be ending his term at the club. In his future could be a return to Milan, a solution that would greatly please him after a positve spell there in 2017. The club likes Deulofeu and has made an initial inquiry to his agent to determine his level of interest. Deulofeu is a name that could be featured prominently in the Rossoneri's summer transfer plans.”

Watford have dropped to the second tier after five season in the Premier League. That is expected to contribute to the departure of a number of top players. Ismaila Sarr and Deulofeu are obviously expected to leave the club while influential captain Troy Deeney could also head for the exit door. Deeney has been committed to the Hornets for a decade where he has scored 133 goals, but he may now consider a move to another Premier League club.
