BRIGHTON MUST BUILD ON RECENT WINS

Danny Welbeck has called on his Brighton and Hove Albion teammates to maintain the recent form shown in the Premier League ahead of the final two months of this campaign.

Welbeck spoke to the official website of the Seagulls about the recent wins over Southampton and Newcastle United. The ex-England international also pointed out the need to show the same level of performance ahead of the final nine matches of the current Premier League season.
Danny Welbeck has played a big part for Brighton in the latest good run of form spanning the last two games. The former Arsenal and Manchester United striker has stepped up for Brighton in the club's time of need over the past weeks.

The 30-year-old attacker has produced an attacking return of one goal and one assist in the last two league games to help his club move further clear of the relegation zone. Brighton had been away from the relegation zone (bottom three places)on goal difference before the recent run of two straight victories took the team six points clear of the relegation zone ahead of the final set of games in the league.

The former Red Devils forward’s side beat hosts Southampton 2-1, before they thrashed a poor Newcastle United side 3-0 at home in the current run of two successive wins in the league. Welbeck provided the assist for the winning goal scored by Belgian international Leandro Trossard during the Southampton game. Trossard scored the winning goal in the second half after Southampton attacker Che Adams had cancelled out the opener from Brighton skipper Lewis Dunk.

For the Newcastle United game, Danny Welbeck doubled the lead in the second half after Trossard had scored a first half opener. Frenchman Neal Maupaywrapped up the comprehensive 3-0 win over the Magpies with the third Brighton goal on 68 minutes. Up next for Welbeck and Brighton is a trip to his former club, Manchester United, this weekend.
