Wenger Happy with Performance of This Star as Arsenal Lose 3-1 to Liverpool

Arsene Wenger may be left disappointed with his team’s 3-1 loss against Liverpool in the latest league match.

This defeat raises further questions about manager Wenger’s ability to remain at the club beyond the current campaign. There have already been calls for the Frenchman to step down as soon as possible. His current contract runs out in the summer, and Wenger has claimed that he is yet to make a decision on his future. The Frenchman has played a major role in influencing the club’s path. He has brought in several signings like Danny Welbeck who have gone on to become a success.

Welbeck has a value for money purchase from Manchester United for just £ 16 million. Even though he has not played much in the last couple of years, it has only been down to his injury record rather than lack of goals. After almost 2 years on the sidelines, the striker returned to proper first-team action. He started the game against Liverpool. Even though Arsenal did not create much opportunities, Wenger felt that Welbeck had a good game.

Wenger went with the strange tactic of going with Olivier Giroud and Welbeck at the same time. This resulted in top scorer and star forward Alexis Sanchez dropping down to the bench. Ultimately, this decision may play a role in influencing the future of Wenger.

“Yes, I like the fact that he’s coming back game after game to his best level and that is very interesting for us.Danny has worked very hard to come back and I am very happy for him,” said Wenger. The Frenchman has been utilising the Englishman from the start only in the last games. He says that he has so far withheld the player upon advice from the medical team, as Welbeck has just returned from a very long term injury.
