WELBECK TO MISS ARSENAL’S UCL GROUP GAMES

Danny Welbeck has been axed out Gunners' 25-man squad for the Champions’ League group stage games due to the injury picked up against Manchester City in their second meeting of EPL.

The England international was signed by Arsenal in September 2014, £20 million from Manchester United in 2011 where he used most of his stay on loan.

Welbeck was out with injury and he is not expected to return until the New Year. Arsenal's summer signings include Rob Holding, Shkodran Mustafi, Granit Xhaka and Lucas Perez who are all named in the squad while Hector Bellerin, Alex Iwobi and Chuba Akpom are included in the B list due to being products of the academy.

The Frenchman, Yaya Sanogo also made the squad after his proposed deadline day loan move was reportedly blocked by the coach, Arsene Wenger. The 23-year-old was the subject of deadline day interest from Leeds United but will stay at the Emirates until January at least.
Mathieu Debuchy is included as back-up for Hector Bellerin while the injured Carl Jenkinson also makes it as Arsenal get their Champions League campaign underway against Paris Saint Germain on September 13th.

Squad in Full:

Goalkeepers - David Ospina, Emiliano Martinez, PetrCech

Defence - Mathieu Debuchy, Gabriel, Laurent Koscielny, Rob Holding, Nacho Monreal, Shkodran Mustafi, Carl Jenkinson, Kieran Gibbs

Midfield - Aaron Ramsey, Mesut Ozil, Santi Cazorla, Granit Xhaka, Jeff Reine-Adelaide, Francis Coquelin, Mohamed Elneny, Krystian Bielik

Attack - Alexis Sánchez, Lucas, Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Yaya Sanogo.
Welbeck limped out and was replaced by Jack Wilshere in the 24th minute during their clash with Manchester City's 2-2 draw in May last season. Arsene Wenger believes that Welbeck being unable to make the UCL squad, would give him more play time in the Premier League after he has recovered from his injury.
