Danny Welbeck proved his Importance

Danny Welbeck once again proved his importance to the Arsenal team by scoring the winner against Norwich City.

The 1-0 victory moves the club closer towards the top three, which would give automatic Champions League qualification for the club. Arsenal looked like being in danger of dropping out of the top four altogether a few weeks ago. However, they have been able to get some important victories since the return of Welbeck. The forward has already scored winners against the likes of Watford. Now, his goal against Norwich has taken his league tally to a respectable four goals in six starts.

His good form coupled with striker Oliver Giroud struggling to even get anywhere close to scoring might see the Frenchman dropped for the final two games of the season. Only six months ago, Giroud was seen as the number one striker without a shadow of doubt. When asked about the possibility of being the number one forward for Arsenal, Welbeck claimed that he just wanted to play as many games as possible. At the moment, the former United striker is also concentrating only on building his fitness after having spent almost a year on the sidelines due to a long-term injury.

Arsene Wenger recently conceded that Welbeck remains a great forward who can go one step further if he improves his finishing."Obviously it's down to the manager. I just want to play every single game as players do.Obviously being out for such a long time, you've got to get back into match fitness, as you can tell I'm blowing and I was only playing 30 minutes! It's something, I just want to keep playing games and building up my fitness," said Welbeck after his goal against Norwich. The victory moves Arsenal three points ahead of Manchester City.
